These factors are included in a "Manual J" calculation. Contractors who make these calculations before recommending a size can take a couple of hours collecting the information and making the calculation. If your contractor doesn't do it, there are services that will do it for around $99. If you're feeling particularly on the ball, there are also free online calculators.

Modern refrigerants have been developed to be more environmentally safe than many of the early chlorofluorocarbon-based refrigerants used in the early- and mid-twentieth century. These include HCFCs (R-22, as used in most U.S. homes before 2011) and HFCs (R-134a, used in most cars) have replaced most CFC use. HCFCs, in turn, are supposed to have been in the process of being phased out under the Montreal Protocol and replaced by HFCs such as R-410A, which lack chlorine.[14] HFCs, however, contribute to climate change problems. Moreover, policy and political influence by corporate executives resisted change.[15][16] Corporations insisted that no alternatives to HFCs existed. The environmental organization Greenpeace provided funding to a former East German refrigerator company to research an alternative ozone- and climate-safe refrigerant in 1992. The company developed a hydrocarbon mix of isopentane and isobutane, but as a condition of the contract with Greenpeace could not patent the technology, which led to its widespread adoption by other firms.[17][18][19] Their activist marketing first in Germany led to companies like Whirlpool, Bosch, and later LG and others to incorporate the technology throughout Europe, then Asia, although the corporate executives resisted in Latin America, so that it arrived in Argentina produced by a domestic firm in 2003, and then finally with giant Bosch's production in Brazil by 2004.[20][21]
An electric furnace provides warmth by moving air over and through a series of coils. Ductwork and vents then distribute that air to the individual rooms in your home. Repair costs will depend on both the brand and the exact nature of the problem, but tend to be lower than some of the options above. That's because the units are small, and issues tend to be contained within the heating elements themselves. Expect to spend less than $300 on your electric furnace repair, depending on the exact problem.

R407C is a zeotropic hydro-fluoro-carbon refrigerant and is a blend of difluoromethane (R32) providing the heat capacity, pentafluoroethane (R125) decreasing flammability and tetrafluoroethane (R134a) to reduce pressure. Difluoromethane serves to, pentafluoroethane andtetrafluoroethane. R407C was developed as a replacement for the ozone depleting R22.

Honesty and integrity go a long way with me also pricing was very fair.....A-ok gets it done.... My a/c just stopped working after 12 a.m. I called 3 companies and no one was able to come out till the morning. I couldn't wait till morning due to the fact I have elderly people living with me. so I call A-ok and Tyler was the tech on call for the night. He was super helpful and friendly. Tyler was a few counties away but made the call to rush to my home after 12 am. And fix my unit. It was getting pretty hot inside my house. Turns out it was just a fuse that went bad. He was able to correct it in minutes. I'm thankful Tyler is a honest young man. He could have said anything to run up the bill but he didn't... it was just a blown fuse. I high recommend A-OK for service needs. The pricing was fair and matched up better than everyone else.... the difference which is huge was Tyler came out to do the repair where as every other company wanted me to wait till the morning. Thank you Tyler for getting my unit back in order and I'm happy to say they have my Business going forward....
Not only is it good to rake up leaves to protect your lawn's grass, it's also beneficial for your air conditioner. Rake leaves, cut grass and trim back any tree branches around the unit as a preventative measure. All this yard debris could end up blocking the fins or other parts of the system and cause your AC to use more power to generate cool air in your home.
As this liquid passes through the indoor cooling coil on the inside of the heat exchanger, two things happen to the air that passes over the coil’s surface on the outside of the heat exchanger. The air’s temperature is lowered (sensible cooling) and moisture in the air is removed (latent cooling) if the indoor air dew point is higher than the temperature of the coil’s surface. The total cooling (capacity) of an AC system is the sum of the sensible and latent cooling. Many factors influence the cooling capacity of a DX air conditioner. Total cooling is inversely proportional to outdoor temperature. As the outdoor temperature increases the total capacity is reduced. Air flow over the indoor cooling coil also affects the coil’s capacity and is directly proportional to the total capacity of an AC system. As air flow increases, the total capacity also increases. At higher air flow rates the latent capacity of the cooling coil is reduced. Indoor temperature and humidity also affect the total capacity of the AC system. As indoor temperatures increase, the sensible capacity also increases. Similarly, as indoor relative humidity increases the latent capacity of the AC system increases. Manufacturers of AC equipment typically provide a “performance map” of specific equipment to show how total, sensible, and latent capacity change with changing indoor and outdoor temperatures and humidity. Power consumption and energy efficiency are also provided in these charts.
Contact/Relay -- Relays are electronically controlled switches that activate the various components of your HVAC system. They manage everything from the power going to the motor to automatic dampers, humidifiers, etc. Most of them are controlled by the thermostat. The most common failure for a relay is being stuck in the "open" position. Separated from its assigned contact point, it fails to complete the connection and send the message to whatever it was supposed to operate. This failure usually occurs from use over time. Each time a relay connects and sends its signal, the electrical arcing from point to point eventually causes wear and tear.

Non fluorochemical refrigerants, such as ammonia (R717), carbon dioxide (R744) and hydrocarbons such as propane (R290) or isobutene (R600a). These products exist naturally in the environment. Alternative to fluorochemical refrigerants, often used due to their low direct GWP and ODP potential. (However it should be noted that commercial production of natural refrigerants is normally via man-made synthesis).

Relative humidity is the ratio of the partial pressure of water vapour in an air-water mixture to the saturated vapour pressure of water at a prescribed temperature. In prevailing Northern European conditions relative humidity and percentage saturation (ration of moisture content) can be considered the same as the divergence is <1%.  In high temperature areas they should be treated differently as the divergence may be as high as 10%.

Cleaning the debris that builds up on your filters will aid with the flow of air. When your air filter is clogged, your air handler must work harder to compensate for the blockage of air flow. In addition to driving up your utility bill, the reduced air flow through your heating and cooling system can cause your heat exchanger to overheat and shut off too quickly.

Getting one of the best air conditioner brands is important whether you’re replacing an old HVAC system, or having the first AC unit system put in your brand new home, but it’s not everything. The best Trane, Ruud, or American Standard HVAC system won’t perform any better than a no-name bargain air conditioner system if it’s not installed properly by a quality HVAC contractor.
